Being an organized actor means keeping on top of your files and emails. Here are my best tips and strategies!
Fuck It Folder
The Fuck It Folder is a great tool for managing rejection. I would love to say that I am simply above the sting of the inevitable “no,” but alas, I am a sensitive girlie. To cope, I have created a folder in my emails called fuck it where any rejection that stings immediately goes. It leaves my inbox, and I get the satisfaction of feeling like the rejection no longer has control over me.
Current Headshot and Resume Folder
Have you ever found yourself searching “headshot” in your files and come up with 20 options, none of which are the version you actually need? This is the solution: a folder called “current headshot and resume.” Mine contains my headshot, resume, and a combined PDF of both.
Headshot Signature
I include my headshot in my email signature, allowing casting directors to connect my face with our communication.
Emails Templates
I have two email templates I use as an actor. The first is a simple acknowledgement email for rejection notices. The second is an audition submission email. Having both these as templates allows me to take the emotion and second-guessing out of these emails.
Email Filters
When it comes to your year-end taxes, keeping track of your receipts can be a pain. I use gmail filters to create a folder full of all of my digital receipts from the year, allowing me to pull out the relevant ones to send along to my accountant. Download the free filters I created below!
